THE ERIN DAVIS SHOW
A reminder for the Planning Day, which is happening this week. It is something that I have been looking forward to for quite a while and I'm super excited that it is going to be happening this week, but I know that taking time out and doing something like a planning day can be really challenging for a lot of women, but here is why a Planning Day is super important. It really just gives you the opportunity to reflect, and in order to plan what it is that you want to do going forward, you need to have a look at what's happened in the past. Now that's not staying in the past, but it's having a look at what worked, what didn't work, what are the lessons learned, and where do you need to change things up so that the next period of time is aligning to the goals and dreams that you have? So the Planning Day is perfect to reflect. It's also a great opportunity to focus on what is actually in front of you. And now I know our to-do lists are huge, and the thought of taking time out of that busy schedule to sit and plan for a day can be quite confronting and overwhelming, though it really is the perfect opportunity to choose what it is that you're going to focus your time and energy on going forward. So if your to-do list is overflowing, you're not quite sure where to go, what to do, and you're feeling completely overwhelmed, then a Planning Day is exactly what you need.
Being a money coach, we are obviously going to talk about money at the Planning Day. We're going to look at the numbers, because the numbers don't lie. We're going to work out what you need to be looking at what's important, and set some targets for the next 90 days, and we're doing this planning day in the most beautiful location. As soon as you walk through the front doors, you can immediately feel that expansion and the abundance that this space brings with it. So it really is the perfect place to allow the creativity and the clarity to come through. So if you are sitting on the fence, take this as your sign that you need to come along. I guarantee you it will be a day full of clarity, expansion, abundance, and just really getting super clear on where you're going to focus your time and energy for the next 90 days. I'll put all the links in the show notes, but you can find all the details at www.erindavis.com.au/planning and get your tickets there. So as I said, this is the very last chance that you have to come along to this planning day.
So welcome to today's episode. Before we get started, I really just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has tuned in and listened to my podcast this week, we have achieved a huge milestone. We have 500 downloads. And I know that that may seem small and insignificant to a lot of people out there. However, for me, I am very, very grateful that I have had the opportunity to. To be in somebody's ears 500 times, and when I first started this podcast, I had all the doubts in the world of who would listen to me. What do I have to offer? Can I really do it? And so to reach this milestone in such a short space of time really makes me feel very proud of myself, and is something that I really want to celebrate, and I think we don't celebrate often enough our milestones and our wins, because we have this fear of maybe people will judge us because we're too full of ourselves, or we're to up ourselves because, you know that's putting the spotlight on us. And while I had those thoughts, of course, I really just want to share my appreciation and share my gratitude for everybody that has listened and tuned in and helped me get to where I am.
So I thought today I would share a few of those lessons that I've learnt along this very short journey. Because to get to this point, it has taken a while, and it hasn't just been since I started recording the episodes, there has been a long road prior to this, which has shaped and determined the direction of my business, how I feel, how I show up. And it's really those parts along the way that need to be recognized and need to be celebrated as well. So I think it's sometimes really hard to see our progress and to see how far we've come when we're in amongst it all the time. And I think taking a moment to pause and celebrate a win when it happens or a milestone really gives you that opportunity to see just how far you've come. And it can feel really uncomfortable and messy, like that messy middle stage when you're in it, in it and amongst it.
So even though this still feels hard and it feels clunky and I still have a lot to learn, I have made huge inroads, and I am doing things now that three months ago, I had no clue what it was that I could do. If you had asked me five years ago that I see myself having a podcast, I would have said absolutely not. So I think it's really important that we recognize just how far we've come along. The journey to get to where we are right now and right now doesn't mean the end, and it doesn't mean that we're going to stop. It just means a point in time and it gives you the opportunity to stop and reflect.
I also think that celebrating these wins and these milestones really provide motivation for you to keep going. And it can be really, really hard when you are taking small steps all the time and feeling like the road on the path is just so heavy and you feel like you're weighed down all the time. You don't feel like you're making any progress. And this can happen with anything in your business, in your work, in your life, with your money, that you know you're taking these little constant steps, and it's really hard to see the progress, but I think again when you stop and reflect and take a look back at just how far you've come and what progress you've made, whether that's doing things now that seem easy and in flow and simple, which were once super hard and challenging and created so much stress and overwhelm. Or whether you now have an emergency bank account that has enough in it to cover things like the washing machine breaking down, or, you know, the kids have got something at school coming up, or school photos come up, and, you know, we know how ridiculously expensive they are, but you have that emergency fund built up, whereas three months, six months, 12 months ago, you didn't have that. So I think looking at those little steps and recognizing that that continual movement forward, no matter how small the step is, is still a movement forward.
It also makes you continue on that path when things are hard and when things are challenging, because it's easy to throw your hands in the air and go, Oh, I give up. I can't do it. It's all too hard. I can't, nothing's happening, or there's no progress, or I'm not achieving anything, or I don't have any money in the bank, or I'm not getting any clients, or I'm not making enough money that it's easy to throw your hands in the air and go, well, stuff it. I'm not going to do it though. Celebrating the milestones, recognizing where you're at, measuring where you're at, and taking note of those things, will take the emotion out of whatever it is that you're feeling. And when you remove the emotion, and you're able to just get on with things without being attached to it, to the outcome. There's no emotion there. It's just to get in and follow the process. Then you're able to keep going through those really hard and tough times, because it's not an emotional blockage that's stopping you. It is really just you getting on with it, you've made a commitment to yourself, and no matter what, you're just going to do it. So I really find that taking the emotion out of things helps me to be able to move forward. Because if you know me, then you would know that I am a very emotional person, and I do wear my heart on my sleeve, and that has caused me some issues in the past, because I have been so overcome by emotion that it's really hard to take those steps forward and to move in that direction where I know that I want to go, but it's it's been really hard so for me, removing the emotion and just following the process has been what has been able to keep me going, particularly through those times where it's been hard and it's been challenging, but I've kept going and I've done it.
Another thing that I think is really important is to recognize that learning new things can be hard and they can be challenging. They can cause so much stress and overwhelm and push you so far out of your comfort zone that it makes it really, really hard and challenging. I think that recognising these milestones and recognizing the wins and celebrating the wins needs to include. I've learnt something new, or I'm doing something now that I couldn't do before, and I know for me, I haven't had to learn anything new for a very long time, I studied accounting at uni, and probably since then, I've been learning on the job for the last 30 years, but my knowledge has just been built on and my skills have been improved each day, learning new things, but it's building on something that I already had. So I don't find it challenging or confronting or makes me feel like I'm totally out of my depth.
However, when I really got serious about my business, I needed to create my website. I needed to do all my lead magnets and all of the back end things to make everything work. All the email sequences, I needed to learn how to do absolutely everything, even to do this podcast, recording, editing, uploading, there is a whole process that needs to happen. And that learning curve was so steep and huge that it made me feel like I was silly or dumb, or I really was just so far out of my depth that I had no clue what was actually happening.
I think that we can sometimes be really hard on ourselves because we think that we should know everything and we should be able to do it all, and that expectation that we put on ourselves to do that really causes us to feel that overwhelm and that pressure. So I am taking a moment to recognise just how far I have come, how much I have learnt and how I have been able to implement all of those new learnings into my business, to be able to make my business smoother, more profitable, easier, more in flow and simpler, and just how important that is to my overall well being, because it is really such a huge thing that impacts my my mental health and the way that I show up.
The other thing I want to acknowledge and celebrate is that people want you to win. People want you to. They want you to do well. There are people out there that are a few people who don't want you to win, and they have this energy about them and comments that are really reflective of their insecurities. However, they project them outward, and they project them on to other people who are doing things that maybe they want to do, or are achieving things that they want to achieve.
But really there are so many people out there who want you to win and who want you to succeed at whatever it is that you do. And I know for me that I have had so many people along this journey, particularly the last 12 to 18 months, who have been in my corner. They're the ones that have supported me, that have encouraged me and let me know that I am worthy of doing this and sharing what I know, and I think that we can sometimes feel like it's all too hard and we don't know what we're doing, so therefore we're going to stop. And that could be, you know, learning something new with your money and how to manage your money, because, as we know, lots of women struggle with their financial literacy and knowing what to do with their money. And it can feel really hard and overwhelming and easy to just throw your hands in the air and let somebody else do it. But I want you to know that there are people out there who are there to support you and to encourage you and to teach you.
The thing is that you need to be open to receiving and you need to be open to learning. And when you are then, as hard and as challenging as that can be at times, it actually provides you with that real sense of community and support that we are all craving and that we want. So I would really encourage you to find those people who are there, who are your tribe, and who are there to support you. And so a short episode today, I really just wanted to say thank you again, because as we move through whatever it is that we're doing, it's easy to just get caught up in the day to day and not stop and celebrate the wins.
So I want you to take this as your reminder to stop for a moment today and really just think about what it is that you're doing, how far you've come. What is it that you want to achieve, whether that's in your business or in your personal life, with your money goals, maybe it's reducing your debt, whatever those goals are, just recognise how far you've come, because it's important to celebrate those wins along the way, and just be proud of yourself, be proud of what what it is that you're doing, and be proud of yourself for continuously showing up, because showing up is sometimes the hardest thing you can do.
So I hope that this episode has encouraged you, or put a spark in your step to take a moment and celebrate what your wins are. I'd love for you to share them with me. Reach out to me on socials, or send me an email, whatever feels right for you. But I think that the more we celebrate, the more we encourage each other to celebrate these milestones, the better everyone is going to be, because when you celebrate, the energy you feel, the intrinsic buzz that you get, shows on the outside and your energy is contagious. It radiates out to everybody that you come into contact with, and if you are able to show up as a happy, engaged, contributing, enlightened person who has clarity about what they're doing and you know, just loves life, then that is going to impact everybody around you. So this is your message today. Find what it is that you're that you're grateful for, recognise your milestones and celebrate them.
